Tracks like “MELLOW DRAMATIK” and the title track “SPLICED TAPE FORMATT” are a clear homage to their underground hip hop base but instead of hitting listeners over the head with mindless bravado, it’s laid across gently with TMS’ veteran beat production and Gamin’s lyrical finesse.
