(Haiti in distress)

I created this track “The Barbarian Race” yesterday while thinking about the devistating 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday January 12, 2010. The Red Cross federation estimates that there are 45,000-50,000 deaths in the Haiti earthquake. My guess is that there will be five times that amount! In comparison to the earthquake that took place on December 26, 2004 in Sumatra, Indonesia that left 300,000 dead, the pictures clearly indicate that we should expect these numbers to rise. One of the earliest recorded earthquakes in history was in Antioch, Syria on May 19, 526 A.D. leaving at least 250,000 dead. An estimated 8 million people have died due to earthquakes dating back at least 1,000 to 1,500 years (physorg.com). I’m curious to see if leaders like Chavez, Castro, Ahmadinejad, Pyongyang, Putin, and other radicals will step up to the plate and emerge in this crisis? You know, the ones always cursing America for being evil? The U.S. as we all know have ALWAYS done more to provide aid than any other country in the world. Millions of dollars has been poured into Haiti in the past but rather than it being used for reasons like: improving housing infrastructure, water supply, food resource, hospitals, construction machinery, etc; it’s been given to corrupt leadership that do not allocate the money appropriately. We need to monitor how this money is being used and learn from the past. If anyone is to donate to charity, I urge you only give to legitimate organizations such as the American Red Cross and Food for the poor. Be aware of virus emails, charity scammers, etc. Make sure you research the Organization to which you are donating. Also, let’s not forget the power of prayer. Mother Earth is precious. God Bless!
